Meet Jake Clevenger

Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (#136973), Supervised by Julie Boone, LMFT (#78007).

About Me

Hi, I’m Jake
I’m a trauma-informed therapist, a husband, and a father of three. Like many of my clients, I did not grow up in a peaceful home.

I was raised in the chaos of addiction and narcissistic abuse. My dad’s substance use shaped how I saw myself and love. I learned to scan the room, to keep the peace, to carry loads that were never mine. If you have walked on eggshells or wondered if love will always hurt, I can relate.

Therapy changed my life. Not all at once. Step by step. I did the work, I met the parts of me that were protecting me, and I learned how to let my nervous system feel safe again. That is why I’m a therapist today. I believe freedom is possible because I have lived it.

How I help

My style is warm, educational, and practical. We go at a pace that respects your body and your story.

  • Nervous-system first. We teach your body safety (breath, grounding, movement, sleep scaffolding) so your thinking brain can come back online. From there, change sticks.

  • Attachment repair. Identify how experiences with narcissistic abuse shaped your attachment style (anxious, avoidant, or disorganized). Then learn how to bring healing through secure attachment with your core Self.

  • Education that goes deeper than TikTok. Get one-on-one education where I help you map the specific narcissistic abuse patterns in your current/past relationship. We’ll name the tactics (gaslighting, intermittent reinforcement, love-bombing → devaluation, blame-shifting, triangulation, trauma-bonding) so you can see them clearly and stop second-guessing yourself.

  • Strategic boundaries. Learn to implement situational boundaries based on the current level of narcissistic abuse you’re facing—ranging from time-boxed conversations and written-only communication to low-contact, parallel-parenting, or no-contact when needed. Clear, kind, and enforceable.

  • Evidence-based tools. We’ll use somatic regulation skills, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, CBT, and DBT—practical methods you can apply between sessions to calm your nervous system, sharpen thinking, and act in line with your values.

Who I Work With

I provide therapy for:

  • Adults healing from narcissistic abuse or childhood trauma

  • Survivors of Narc abuse who want to participate in online group therapy

  • Couples navigating conflict, disconnection, or the impact of trauma

  • Parents who feel overwhelmed and want to break generational patterns

  • Teenagers struggling with anxiety, emotional regulation, or identity

  • Anyone ready to reconnect with themselves and build a better life

Why I Do This Work

I have sat where you are sitting. You want a therapist who actually understands what narcissistic abuse and childhood trauma feels like—not just trained, but lived. If you are here, you are already showing courage. I see that.

What I want you to feel in this space is simple:

  • You are not broken. You adapted to survive.

  • You are not alone. I will sit with you in the hard moments.

  • Your reality is valid. You don’t have to second-guess yourself.

  • You can learn a new way. We will make it practical and doable.

Healing is possible, even if you’ve felt stuck for years. I would be honored to walk with you. If any part of you is ready, reach out and we will take one steady step together.

Let’s take that next step together. Complete the Contact me form below and I’ll contact you within 24 business hours.
